The Delaware Environmental and Natural Resources Commission (DENREC) has granted Bethany Beach authorization to widen the boardwalk with a one year time limit for such expansion to occur.  The current boardwalk width is 12' and the authorization allows widening it to 20'.  With benches in place, the current boardwalk allows pedestrians, bicyclist, etc. about 7 1/2' for walking, riding, etc. 

Should our Town Council vote to widen the boardwalk for an estimated cost of $800,000?  It has been said that the Town would use funds currently available from the Boardwalk Emergency Replacement fund and would repay the fund over a five year period.
