Carol Olmstead Candidate for the Bethany Beach Town Council
Elected. Saturday, September 12, 2009 will once again be an opportunity for all eligible voters in the Town of Bethany Beach to lend their voice to who will be elected to serve on our Town Council and once again I am asking for your vote! First elected to the Bethany Beach Town Council in September 2003, I have over the past six years served as Secretary-Treasurer, Vice-Mayor, and Mayor. I have also been a member of our Budget and Finance Committee, our Communications Committee, and chair of the Commercial Design Guidelines Committee, which established guidelines for building or renovating in the business areas of our town. Upon becoming a member of our Town Council, the need to reestablish our Town Museum, now located in the lobby of Town Hall, led me to ask Council to approve the Bethany Beach Cultural and Historical Affairs Committee (CHAC) of which I have been chair over the past five and a half years. I know I am not alone when I say that CHAC has contributed much to our town and continues to work on future projects. Town Council members, in recent years, have had many issues to address as Bethany Beach and our surrounding area continues to become attractive to an increasing number of people. Working together we can maintain the quality of life so important to all of us in Bethany Beach. This requires that Council members be committed to being well informed on issues and open to citizen input. I welcome hearing your concerns and/or comments and can be contacted at carolatbethany@aol.com or 539-2740. Carol Olmstead |
