Prior to our Town Council
meeting this evening we held a public meeting regarding the proposal by
Bluewater
Wind to tunnel below Garfield Parkway and Kent Avenue and
install a 230KV
power line, which would carry electricity from their proposed off shore
windmill complexes to the Delmarva Power facility located on Kent Avenue
from which it would continue via a power line right of way to the Indian River Power
Plant. |

In August, 2007 we began the pursuit of a grant
opportunity, which would provide our Town with amateur (ham) radio
equipment for use during an emergency. The equipment was received last
week and will be installed in the very near future. We have three ham
radio operators who are year round residents and others who are here
from time to time. We are in the process of working with the Amateur
Radio Emergency Service (ARES) and the Sussex Amateur Radio Association
to be able to provide area wide coverage between the town, hospitals,
shelters, Sussex and Delaware state emergency facilities, etc. |
