Please accept my warmest "Thank You" for supporting me as I
seek re-election to my fifth two year term as one of your town council members.
By placing confidence in me and by voting for me, many of our town's
folk have honored me greatly and now it is my turn to respond by performing
as promised during the election process and as exhibited during the last
ten years.
With the continuation of my responsibilities, I remind you that your
elected council members cannot perform the job correctly without
your assistance. Your ideas, suggestions, and constructive
criticism are a necessary part of the management of our town. Let
me emphasize the importance of your role in this relationship. If
something is wrong, let us know. If something doesn't make sense,
say so. Remember, all the issues voted upon by town council
members will affect someone in some way. I encourage you to provide
feedback so those of us on the town council can
consider your thoughts prior to reaching the point of having to make a
decision.
I believe what you think and
say is important and I am a good listener. I truly
care about your opinion. In this regard, I would ask
that if you have any issue concerning our town that you wish to
discuss, please take a moment and contact me by
e-mail, letter or telephone.
My contact information is listed at the top of this page.
Our Town Council works together and among our many accomplishments, the
following are brought to your attention:
Garfield Parkway is in the midst of a major overhaul with the removal of
the utility poles, the undergrounding of cable, electric and telephone
wires and the installation of new light poles and light fixtures
completed. The work to widen the sidewalks and make them ADA
compliant in the 100 block has been approved and state funding has been
obtained for the next phase to begin in the fall of 2013.
In conjunction with the Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Company and our
neighbors in Fenwick Island, Sea Colony and South Bethany we are
providing the financing for local community ambulance service.
The "Church/Neff" property located on the northwest corner of Route 1
and Route 26 is being prepared for future use as a park.
Through a Council supported joint effort of staff and citizens serving
on our Budget and Audit Committees, the Town of Bethany Beach is
financially sound and secure.
We continue to pursue the "quality of life" we have all come to enjoy by
great effort in trash removal, recycling, landscaping, trolley service,
beach replenishment, etc.
Town Council meetings are now broadcast "live" on the Internet and
recordings of meetings are made available online after each meeting.
Wireless Internet connectivity provide in Town Hall, Town Hall Park,
Bandstand, Boardwalk and Beach
