My wife Joan and I have been homeowners in Bethany Beach since
1990, and we have been full time residents of the town since
1999 when we both retired, she from teaching and I from a
financial organization. Our love of the beach and the quality
of life in the town were the main factors that resulted in our
deciding many years ago to retire to Bethany. We have never
been sorry.
I believe Bethany Beach is a well run, financially sound
community. I also believe my experience and background would
allow me to contribute to the continued well being of the town.
I retired as Chief Financial Officer of the Navy Federal Credit
Union after 26 years. Previous employment was as Director of
Administration and Secretary/Treasurer of a data processing
consulting firm. I served as a communications officer in the
Navy and in the Naval Security Group at the National Security
Agency. I received my BS degree in Business Administration from
UCLA.
Both my wife and I believe in giving back to the community
through volunteer work. For seven of my nine years on the board
of the Lake Bethany Community Association where we reside I
served as President. Since living in Bethany Beach, I have
served on ad hoc committees for the town—the Natter Property
Committee (Nature Center), the Trolley Committee, and the
Recycle Committee. For the past two years, I have been a member
of the Budget and Finance Committee. . Joan has been involved
with the Friends of the South Coastal Library and the Beach &
Bay Cottage Tour.
Maintaining the financial integrity of the town, improving
pedestrian safety, storm water management and continuing the
improvements to the quality of life for residents and visitors
to Bethany Beach will be my main objectives as a member of the
town council.
