The Charter and Ordinance Review Committee
(CORC) Mission Statement and Charter |
| |
|
|
|
Mission Statement:
The mission of the Charter and Ordinance Review Committee (CORC) is
to maintain and keep current the viability of the Town's Charter and
Ordinances in concert with the Town Manager's Office and make appropriate
recommendations to the Town Council. |
| |
|
|
|
Scope of Work:
CORC will review ordinances on a routine basis to edit outdated and
redundant entries. In coordination with Town Council, CORC will
upgrade the Town Code to meet any anticipated changes in law, evolving
technologies and new regulatory issues. Any recommendations for
significant change will be forwarded to Town Council for their review prior
to developing legislation. |
| |
|
|
|
Membership of the
Committee:
CORC is a standing committee established by the Town Council.
CORC shall be comprised of not less than five (5) or more than nine (9)
individuals, duly eligible to vote in Town elections. The Chairperson
shall be a Town Council member appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the
Town Council. Members are appointed by the Chairperson and confirmed
by the Council. Each member serves a term of one (1) year, with no
limitations on the number of successive terms. |
| |
|
|
|
Procedures:
CORC will discuss any new item that a community or committee member
brings forward.
A member of CORC will volunteer to write a "white paper" detailing the
proposal and present it to the committee at the next scheduled meeting.
If the committee agrees with the "white paper", the Chairman will present
the proposal to the Town Council at its meeting scheduled for the following
month.
At its next meeting (thirty (30) days later), the Town Council should vote
on whether or not the committee should proceed with the proposal. |
| |
|
|
|
|
Note: The above noted procedures will
not be followed for
simple housekeeping amendments to the Town Code. |
